Welcome and congratulations to you for your courage and curiosity exploring the many possibilities towards growth and/or healing. As a registered nurse I have been working in the health care industry for over 30 years, with a focus in the last 12 years as a psychotherapist. Be it for the purpose of personal growth or healing, individuals, couples, or families can anticipate their experience with me to feel safe, warm, and compassionate. Much of the work I do with individuals is concentrated around the effort to cope with and overcome the challenges of anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, grief, work-related stress, family conflict and single parenting.

As an Certified Imago Relationship Therapist and Certified Imago Workshop Presenter, I specialize in couple’s work. Imago therapy distilled into it’s simplest form recognizes that growth and healing is done in the context of a committed relationship. All too often couples mistakenly believe that “if I am struggling in my relationship with my partner, I am with the wrong person.” Instead, within the context of the couple’s struggle, conflict is growth trying to happen! As I work with couples my goals are to: restore safety, trust and passion by helping the couple develop the tools to navigate conflict. This approach enhances communication, ultimately transforming conflict into connection. For couples who struggle with sexual intimacy, my colleague and I offer an advanced couples weekend workshop.

Finally, my approach to family therapy is structured to first create safety and predictability. Initially this helps a family shift from conflict and power struggles to re-establishing connection that leads to cooperation. Much of the work I do with parents is three-fold. First, I educate parents on how to decode their child’s behavior to meet their child’s needs. Second, I support parents in connecting with their own needs in order to meet the needs of their children. And last, I help parents connect with their children through communication, building a strong parent-child bond that fosters cooperation. The work can be transforming for each family member as well as for the family unit.
